Vow-Making

A couple creates unique vows that allow them to bond over what is important for their relationship and then share the vows with each other in a re-covenanting experience.

To participate in this module complete the following activities:

1)    Read our blog on this topic at the link provided here: vow-making-blog.php

2)    Take a pre-test below on vow-making within your relationship and write down your scores.

3)    Watch the 5 minute presentation below on vow-making (together if possible)

4)    Download and Complete the worksheet on vow-making in your relationship with your partner

5)    Once you’ve completed the previous activities, retake the self-test on vow-making, discuss what might improve your relationship with your partner, and compare your post-test results with the pre-test.

Step 5:  After completing the information learned and the vow-making worksheet together, scroll down and take the short self-test again and see if your answers change.  (if you aren't working with a Hope consultant then type in "self directed" as the name of your consultant)

If faith is important to the two of you then consider God’s covenant relationship with humanity.

  • Genesis 9:1-17: God established an “everlasting covenant” between Himself and all flesh that is on the earth.
  • Deuteronomy 7:12: The Lord our God will keep the covenant with us and the steadfast love that He swore to our fathers.
  • Ezekiel 16:60: The Lord remembers His covenant with us and establishes it as everlasting.
  • Malachi 2:14-15: The Lord is witness to our covenant with our spouse and He has made us one in flesh and spirit.

How does it make you feel to realize that God’s covenant that He made with us is permanent?
